Romano Bernardoni, chairman of the Italian leisure group Parmatour, was arrested early Wednesday by financial police in the northern city of Bologna on the grounds of alleged criminal conspiracy, fraudulent bankruptcy and false corporate communication, the news agency Radiocor reported.
Bernardoni, 64, was reportedly accused by Fausto Tonna, the former financial director of the food group Parmalat, of having received funds on order of its founder and former chairman, Calisto Tanzi.
Parmatour is owned by the Tanzi family, which allegedly diverted 900 million euros (1.1 billion dollars) from Parmalat.
