28 Feb, 2004

The opposition parties on Friday staged a token walkout from the Senate against the murder of two minor girls in Gadap town, Karachi, last week.
Pakistan Peoples Party Parliamentarians (PPPP) Senator Mian Raza Rabbani asked the government to make a statement on the issue in the House, which provoked a walkout, participated by all the opposition parties.
The senator flayed the police for delay in registration of the FIR and demanded of the government to award exemplary punishment to the culprits behind the gory incident.
MQM Senator M. Ali Barohi and MMA Senator Professor Abdul Ghafoor Ahmed had also raised the matter in the previous sitting on Wednesday.
Referring to the autopsy report, Rabbani decried why the concerned quarters were resorting to delaying tactics to bringing to book the culprits responsible for the cannibalistic act.
The decomposed bodies of the ill-fated girls were found after a week of their disappearance. One of the girls was raped and the three policemen were allegedly involved in the heinous incident.
Leader of the House Senator Wasim Sajjad while condemning the incident assured the House that stringent action would be taken against the culprits.
