28 Feb, 2004

The Balochistan residents in Karachi including youth have very warmly welcomed the assurance given by Prime Minister Mir Zafarullah Jamali that the coastal land in Balochistan along with land in Gwadar will be given free to the local population of Balochistan living in coastal area, reports UPP correspondent.
The assurance by Premier Jamali was given in the course of a meeting with the journalists from Balochistan at the Prime Minister House in Islamabad the other day.
It may be mentioned here that many of the Balochistan NGOs and Youth Organisations have been campaigning against the sale of land on the Balochistan coast to the big property developers by the local residents long before the residential projects for the area were announced.
The landless residents of the Balochistan coastal area number several thousand and specially in Gwadar where rich Karachi based developers have bought, much in advance of the Gwadar port and infrastructure development projects.
The assurance by Premier Jamali that local Balochistan residents will also be given employment in the Balochistan base projects has also evoked fresh feeling of gratitude towards the Prime Minister and the Balochistan NGOs in Karachi and Lasbella have begun looking forward now to the provision of the land and jobs to the locals in all the Balochistan and coastal development projects.
