30 TV channels to start transmission this year

Pakistan Electronic Media Regulatory Authority (Pemra) Chairman Mian Muhammad Javed has said that about 30 TV channels would start its transmissions by the end of this year.
Talking to Punjab University's Vice-chancellor Arshad Mahmood here on Saturday, Javed said that future is of media and development in every sector of life depends largely on the promotion of media organisations. Pemra is actively working on the promotion of media organisations in the country, he added.
He discussed with the vice-chancellor the possibility of collaboration for research in media studies.
He assured full co-operation to the Punjab University's Mass Communication Department in launching live transmissions from its recently set up FM radio and close circuit TV stations.
Arshad said that the university is helping media organisations by training young graduates with state-of-the-art facilities.
The Mass Communication Department is fully equipped with the most modern facilities to provide practical education to students.
On the occasion, Chairman Mass Communication Department Professor Dr Mugheesuddin Sheikh called for ensuring the credibility of the information transmitted by media organisations.
