District Nazim Mian Amir has lauded the co-operation of Ulema and elected representatives for maintaining peace and religious harmony during the past two years and expressed confidence that they would show the same gesture this year.
He said this after inspection of the route of main Zuljinnah procession here on Sunday.
Nazim expressed satisfaction over arrangements made by the City District Government in this regard and ordered provision of maximum facilities to the mourners.
He said that obstacles from the route have been removed and patch-work of roads, repair of street lights, installation of temporary lights and proper placement of hanging electricity and telephone cables had been undertaken by various civic agencies.
CDGL has completed all-out arrangements for maintaining religious harmony and law and order for protecting life and property of the citizens, he said. It had also re-mobilised peace committees at police station level and directed their members for ensuring their presence during Majalis and processions, he added.
A foolproof security and traffic plan had teen chalked out besides making adequate parking arrangements and undertaking detailed sweeping of the area. Traffic police had also been directed for setting up parking lots at a reasonable distance from the mourning gatherings, he added.
