Majlis-i-Amal reacts to Wana operation

01 Mar, 2004

Muttahida Majlis-i-Amal (MMA) has said that General Pervez Musharraf is serving as chief Polling Agent of US President George W Bush and operation in Wana was a part of this game because arrest of Osama bin Laden was the only key of victory for the Bush in forthcoming elections.
MMA strongly condemned the Military operation in Wana (Southern Waziristan) and killing thirteen persons and warned the Government not to take any step which would widen the gulf between the Government and the tribes.
"We think General Pervez Musharraf is serving as Chief Polling Agent and supporter of US President George W Bush and search for Osama bin Laden and operation in Wana and killing a dozen people was a part of this game, we vehemently condemn the Military operation in Wana as it would widen the gap between the relations of the Government and tribes which might be harmful to country's integrity, security and solidarity," said Syed Munawar Hassan, Secretary General of Jamaat Islami Pakistan.
"Those who took part in Afghan crusade against Russian aggression are being killed by declaring them al Qaeda men while they are defendants on our northern borders," said Liaquat Baloch Provincial Amir of JI and a leader of MMA.
Anti US elements are being declared Taleban and al Qaeda men to eliminate them for the pleasure of United States while intelligence agencies and sensitive institutions are being handed over to American, said Mufti Hidayatullah Pasroori, of JUP.
Pakistan should not involve itself in the US elections because defeat of George Bush would create severe and irreparable problems for the country, said Dr Muhammad Arif of JUI.
