Is Dasht Ki Tanhai and Raqsan Sar-e-Bazar are two new collections of novelettes by Anwer Ahsan Siddiqui whose novel Lahoo Phir Tapka published a few months back, portraying the real picture of Karachi in its evolution during the last fifty years, was highly acclaimed by the literary circles in Pakistan.
Each of the recent two works contains four novelettes which, with multiple characters representing various classes of society, reveal the conflicts and contradictions inherent in the social system with particular focus on highlighting human sorrows and sufferings. These collections should go a long way in enriching the image of modern Urdu fiction and serve as a valuable addition to purposeful writings.
