City Nazim Naimatullah Khan has called for an early and speedy implementation on the proposed project of Education City on an area of 8,000 acres at the Link Road between National and Super highways.
While presiding over a meeting with all the stakeholders of the project on the issue on Friday, he directed to accelerate the process for demarcation of Education City and issuance of notification thereof so that this mega project could be expeditiously given a practical shape.
He also sought cancellation of allotment of industrial and commercial plots within the limits and the adjoining areas of Education City from the Sindh government for the purpose.
He observed that the project of Education City will commensurate with 21st century and prove to be a milestone in the field of modern scientific subjects and research.
He further hoped that the project would not only meet the needs of Karachi but the entire country as well as other countries of South Asia and help in lowering the illiteracy rate.
It was also decided in the meeting that EDO Revenue would prepare a working paper after making contacts with various universities, City and Sindh governments. EDO Master Plan was directed to give a spur to the planning process in connection with bylaws, demarcation and master planning.
The meeting was also attended by EDO Revenue Mohammed Waseem, EDO Master Plan Zaigham Jaffery, DG Mass Transit Malik Zahirul Islam, Project Director MDA Amirzada Khan Kohati, Deputy MD Technical Services KWSB Suleman Chandio, DG Aga Khan University, Mansoor S. Sultan, Nisar Hasan Ali Effendi of Sindh Madressah Board, vice-chancellor Ziauddin University Shahid Aziz Siddiqi, Professor Dr Zafar Hussain of Sindh Institute of Urology and Transplantation besides officials of KESC, SSGC and other organisations.
