The City District Government Lahore (CDGL) is spending Rs 150 million during the current fiscal year for provision of missing facilities in the government educational institutions.
District Nazim Mian Amer Mahmood revealed this while talking to the visiting public representatives at his office here on Friday.
He also directed for upgrading Government Model Girls Middle School Bhogiwal, Baghbanpure, up to secondary level and introducing 9th and 10th classes from the coming academic, for convenience of local female students.
He said CDGL has already introduced English medium in 76 schools of the city so that the lower and middle class students could also get equal opportunities and quality education, he maintained.
He said that adoption of schools by NGOs and setting up of school councils did not mean privatisation of these institutions. Neither the buildings of these schools were being sold to any NGO nor the service matters of the staff were being handed over to them. They would remain government servants, he assured.
