PIA's ad hoc schedules

06 Mar, 2004

My family was to travel from Lahore to London by PK 757 of Tuesday. They held confirmed seats for a scheduled Boeing 747 flight. However, some bright guy sitting in PIA decided to put the new Boeing 777, which has about 100 seats less than B747.
How can an airline make such adhoc changes in schedules, disrupting the life and plans of people, who pay to travel. Perhaps we, who patronise our national flag carrier, are taken for granted by PIA's management.
If we, the customers, were to boycott PIA for their sheer arrogance and mishandling of clients, their aircraft would be empty.
It is the loyalty and patriotism of Pakistani expatriates, which fill the seats of PIA, and not the efforts or marketing skills of its salesman.
Is there somebody in Islamabad, who can take to task the man responsible for changing the colour of the Pakistani green flag, that adorns the tail of its new planes?.
The diagonal dark olive green line on the fuselage, resembles the new livery of EL Al aircraft.
The waving flag on the tail, painted in bluish dark green (or dark olive green) resembles the flag on the Washington monument dedicated to Lincoln.
Either PIA should repaint the Pakistani flag in its original green, or else should eliminate it from the livery.
National flag is considered sacred by its citizens. Men like Aziz Bhatti, Shabbir Sharif etc laid down their lives to keep it aloft.
This flag is the legacy of the Quaid-i-Azam and nobody should be allowed to mess with it.
