Sindh Chief Secretary Dr Mutawakkal Kazi has called for a report from the concerned departments within two days regarding the latest position about implementation of Tameer-e-Karachi Programme.
On his instruction, a circular has been sent from Services and General Administration Department to the additional chief secretaries Planning and Development and Local Government Departments, DCII Karachi and EDO Works and Services.
They have been told that a meeting in this regard would soon be convened.
These departments and officials were asked to submit the reports by tomorrow (March 6) positively so that further steps could be taken thereof.
Meanwhile, in the light of a report of the Planning Department, Mutawakkal Kazi asked the ACS Development to ensure the follow-up of Karachi Land Use Plan and in this regard the projects be given a boost through augmented liaison with all the departments, including the City District Government.
He called for maintaining the beauty and environment as well as rights of rural population while developing green belts, coastal belt and roads under land use plan.
The chief secretary also sought a report regarding under-repair roads in Karachi, under-construction fly overs at FTC and Shahrah-e-Quaideen and DCO was directed to ensure the use of quality material and transparency in the project implementation.
Details were also called for regarding Korangi Road, Jam Sadiq Ali Road (Korangi Industrial Area), Sharea Faisal from the airport to Steel Mill, M.A. Jinnah Road, Mai Kolachi inter-section and other construction projects. Dr Kazi stressed the need for adopting an effective strategy in co-ordination with CAA, KPT, EPZA, PQA and other concerned organisations for ensuring timely construction and completion of the projects.
He also took notice of public complaints regarding repair of roads under fly over at Liaquatabad No 10 and installation of traffic signals there and expressed displeasure over slow pace of work.
