Vice Chief of Army Staff, General Mohammad Yusaf Khan, has commended the efforts of all ranks of Frontier Works Organisation (FWO) on completion of Pasni-Gawadar project ahead of schedule while ensuring requisite standards.
He observed that portions of the coastal highway given to FWO for construction were most difficult and challenging and it had to counter numerous problems arising due to extreme weather conditions, in-hospitable terrain, scarcity of water, its transportation and transportation of building material over very large distances. But with Allah's help FWO stood up to the challenge, said a news release here on Friday.
On his arrival at Gawadar, VCOAS was given detailed briefing on the on-going projects by Director General FWO.
General Mohammad Yusaf Khan emphasised the significance of Coastal Highway for national economy besides socio-economic uplift of the area and people.
The Makran Coastal Highway will also serve as main lateral artery for offshore support to fishing ports of Ormara, Pasni and Gwadar, he observed
The project, General Yusuf said, will lay the foundation for establishment of an integrated communication network in Balochistan.
