Eighteen killed as cyclone hits Madagascar

Eighteen people were killed when a tropical cyclone hit the giant Indian Ocean island of Madagascar at the weekend, state-run radio reported.
Radio Madagasikara said on Monday two people were killed by a falling tree, another person was electrocuted and 10 others drowned as the cyclone swept across the island.
Madagascar had issued a cyclone alert as the Tropical Cyclone Gafilo approached on Saturday, gaining speeds of up to 200 km/hour (124 mph).
