The senior officials of Pakistan and Vietnam on Wednesday reviewed and finalised arrangements for the visit of President of Vietnam to Pakistan later this month.
The Vice Foreign Minister of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam Le Cong Phung held talks with the Foreign Secretary Riaz H. Khokhar, at the Foreign Office.
Le Cong Phung arrived in Islamabad on Wednesday morning at the head of a six-member delegation. The two sides also exchanged views on further broadening and deepening of bilateral co-operation.
Several areas in economic and trade sectors were identified. Both sides underscored the need to develop a strong partnership between private sectors of the two countries.
International and regional issues were also discussed. The Vietnamese side expressed support for Pakistan's membership of the ASEAN Regional Forum and appreciated Pakistan's efforts to strengthen its relations with the ASEAN.
Pakistan and Vietnam enjoy close friendly relations. The President of Pakistan visited Vietnam in May 2001 and the Vietnamese President will visit Pakistan later this month.
