Punjab government has decided to offer a salary of Rs 30,000 per month and conveyance allowance to those doctors, specialists and surgeons, who would serve in rural areas, while residential facilities are already available with the Rural Health Centres and Basic Health Units, said Punjab chief minister Chaudhry Pervaiz Elahi while talking to a group of journalists on Friday just before leaving for Lahore.
He said: "We have provided funds of Rs 1830 million for different development projects of Multan and we would make it an industrial hub of south Punjab."
An export reprocessing zone would be established in the industrial estate of Multan while nursing and dental colleges would also be established in the city, he said.
To a question he said that Rs 250 million have already been released for the sewerage system and more funds would also be released for this mega project.
AMBULANCE SERVICE: The chief minister said that a modern ambulance service would soon be introduced to facilitate the patients besides providing two buses for the students of Nishtar Medical College.
He said a cardiology centre would be set up at the medical college before June,2004.
The chief minister said: "We are considering a proposal to grant honoraria to female councillors because it is an outstanding demand of these councillors."
