Registrar Co-operatives Punjab Khalid Pervez has directed the staff of the Punjab Provincial Co-operative Bank Limited (PPCBL) for timely disbursement of loans to farmers so that they could avail the facilities granted by the government at the maximum.
Addressing a meeting of zonal heads of the PPCBL here the registrar, who is also President of the Bank, urged the staff to speed up the recovery of outstanding dues. The meeting also discussed the issuance of loans for the Rabi crop 2003-04 and recovery of loans of Kharif crop 2003.
The meeting was told that the loans of Rs 2920 million have been disbursed for Rabi 2003-04 and the issuance of loans will continue till March 15, 2004. The registrar was informed at the meeting that Rs 2780 million have been recovered against the Kharif crop, which is 98 percent of the total disbursed amount for the said crop.
The meeting also discussed in detail the issues relating to medium-term loans for purchase of tractors and other agricultural inputs, Defence & Saving Certificates and loans extended by the bank to women co-operative societies.
Chief Auditor Co-operatives Saleem Pirzada, Joint Registrar Co-operatives, Saqib Aleem, General Manager PPCBL Raja Allah Baksh and other senior officers of the Bank also attended the meeting.
