Indonesia's Acting Consul-General Hikmat Moeljama has said that arrangements are being made for quick issuance of visas to businessmen, and that multiple visa would also be considered for Pakistani businessmen on priority basis.
Speaking at a meeting of Karachi Chamber of Commerce and Industry (KCCI), he agreed to the proposition of liberal visa facilities for expansion of bilateral trade.
He emphasised that Indonesian Consulate had always worked for better trade and economic relations with Pakistan. Certain fresh measures have also been suggested to Indonesian government by the Consulate to improve bilateral trade, he said.
He hoped that traditional co-operation between Karachi Chamber and Indonesian Consulate in Karachi would continue.
Siraj Kassam Teli, President of KCCI called for improvement in trade between Pakistan and Indonesia, saying that it must be expanded to diversified sectors.
The KCCI president urged that issuance of visa by Indonesia be made quicker and multiple visas be issued to Pakistani businessmen to facilitate rapid improvement in bilateral trade.
Teli stressed importance of Karachi saying that Karachi is the main economic hub of the country. It has more than 14,000 industrial units and contributes over 65 percent to the entire revenue collection of the country.
He suggested that Indonesia and Pakistan should work for the improvement of regional trade. More interaction between the entrepreneurs could expand the trade volume enormously as both countries have many things to export to each other.
Surgical goods, textile products, leather goods and non-traditional items could be exported from Pakistan, he added.
