Indian Defence Minister George Fernandes said on Sunday that a deal to purchase 66 Hawk Advanced Jet Trainers from British Aerospace was likely to be signed on Monday.
"In all likelihood, it should be signed tomorrow," Fernandes told reporters in the southern Indian city of Bangalore, according to the Press Trust of India.
Newspaper reports this week had said the deal could be grounded despite receiving cabinet clearance last September because of a controversy on whether tooling costs had been included in the $ 1.63 billion.
