Mainstream political parties PPP and PML-N as partners of Alliance for Restoration of Democracy (ARD) have started tehsil level visits in South Punjab for successfully setting up protest camps on March 22 in connection with the third round of protest movement against the present regime, it is learnt.
This is the first time that ARD is extending its anti-government drive to tehsil level compared to past activities which were done at district headquarter levels.
On the other hand poor organisational structure of both the parties indicated serious flaws in getting the desired results owing to incomplete party offices, lack of grassroots level units and the establishment of a democratic environment with in the party, revealed inner party's study.
The PPP is betraying from her party chairperson and Central Executive Committee's (CEC) decision and not a single decision of organising and strengthening the party could be followed.
PPP chairperson Benazir Bhutto bound central leadership include Makhdoom Shah Mehmood Qureshi, Jehangir Badar, Malik Mushtaq Awan, Khalid Khan Kharal, MNA Liaquat Dogar, Azizur Rehman Chan, Begum Shahnaz Javed, Fakhur Zaman, Naveed Chaudhry, MPA Ishaq Bucha, Professor Ijazul Hassan, Syed Nazim Shah and others. None of a single leader could ensure his presence in his concerned district protest camp.
Only Syed Yousaf Raza Gillani was the person who could ensure his presence in the protest camp.
The CEC meeting decided 8 members in each union council but later the numbers were extended to 25 including 10 main office bearers and the rest of 15 members for executive committee in each union council for motivating the general public for party cause and manifesto.
PPP was to be required 3150 office bearers and executive committee members in 126 union councils spread in four tehsils include Multan City, Multan Sadar, Shujaabad and Jalalpur Pirwala. Local party chapters remained aloof in acting upon the CEC decisions and not a single union council in the district could be modelled in this regard.
The Punjab party executive committee was advised to hold meeting after 8 days and the district party meeting once in a month and the CEC members, members federal council and members of parliament were strictly bounded to attend the district level party meeting at every cost.
The party chairperson would take disciplinary action on the reports of district party against the members who would not attend at least 3 meetings regularly. Not a single decision in this regard has yet been followed.
Even PPP chairperson bound main and important leaders to visit the protest camps established from February 13 to 20 but except Syed Yousaf Raza Gillani not a single central leader include Makhdoom Shah Mehmood Qureshi, Jehangir Badar, Malik Mushtaq Awan, Khalid Kharal and others could follow the decision.
Their absence discourages party workers but the CEC did not take any action against a single leader.
The March 22 protest camps drive is the 3rd round of oppositions' anti-government movement, which was launched from last December 19 in country.
