Civil Aviation Authority (CAA) conducted a simulated full scale emergency exercise at Allama Iqbal International Airport on Monday in which apart from CAA, the fire and medical services, other agencies took part.
CAA made extensive arrangements to extinguish fire at the airport and thereafter the simulated injured were promptly rescued by CAA fire fighters from the aircraft and taken to nearby hospitals for medical aid.
The PAF, city district government, health services, PIA and Edhi ambulances also participated in this exercise. A PIA aircraft was used for the exercise.
The exercise was also witnessed by the representatives of all airlines, ground handling agents, city government, ASF who lauded the role of CAA to make it closest to reality. Khalid Sultan, DCO Lahore, was also present.
Nusrat Ullah Khan, Airport Director, who also watched the exercise, appreciated the performance of all the agencies, which participated in the exercise. He said that the objective of this simulated exercise was to test the abilities of the agencies deputed at the airport to cope with any emergent situation.
