UK naval chief in Karachi

Admiral Sir Alan West, First Sea Lord and Chief of Naval Staff of British Navy, arrived here on Monday evening.
He was received at Pakistan Navy Aviation Base by Commander Karachi, Rear Admiral Asad Qureshi, an ISPR (Navy) news release said here on Tuesday.
The First Sea Lord is on a five-day official visit to Pakistan on the invitation of his Pakistani counterpart Admiral Shahid Karimullah.
The British Naval Chief visited Mazar-e-Quaid on Tuesday morning to pay homage to the Father of the Nation. He remained there for sometime and laid a floral wreath.
Later, the First Sea Lord visited PN Dockyard and called on Commander Logistics, Vice Admiral Farooq Rashid, and discussed matters of bilateral interest.
During his visit, Admiral Sir Alan West attended a briefing on the indigenous submarine and ships construction capabilities of Pakistan Navy.
He also witnessed the on going work on the third under construction Agosta 90-B submarine and praised the dedication and professionalism of Pakistan Navy work force.
Earlier, the visiting dignitary called on Commander Pakistan Fleet, Rear Admiral Afzal Tahir, at Pakistan Navy Tactical School and exchanged views on professional matters.
