Steadier trend was again witnessed in the open market at the weekend as the rupee stayed firm versus the dollar for buying and selling at Rs 57.73 and Rs 57.78, respectively.
Tight supply of dollars did not allow the rupee to come out of its slide and it might maintain its present trend versus the dollar, dealers said.
However, it posted fresh gain of 40 paisa in relation to euro for buying and selling at Rs 70.82 and Rs 71.02.
In the world markets the dollar showed improvement versus major currencies.
