Hundreds of students studying at local educational institutions on Monday brought out a rally protest martyrdom of Shaikh Ahmed Yassin, who was killed along with his several others companions in a attack of Israeli gun-ship helicopters in Gaza.
Students started gathering at Khizra Mosque at Regal Chowk after hearing the news of Shaikh Yassin's assassination in the morning and later, headed towards the Karachi Press Club (KPC) after passing through various busy roads of Saddar.
Carrying banners and placards inscribed with slogans against Israeli and US state-terrorism, they chanted slogans against US and its allies, and vowed to continue Jihad against occupation Islamic lands and countries by infidels.
Addressing protestors at the KPC, student leader Syed Tahir Akbar said by killing Shaikh Ahmed Yassin, Israel has declared war against Muslims around the globe.
Terming Shaikh's martyrdom a great loss for Muslim Ummah, especially Palestinians, he said Jihad was the only solution to end Israeli occupation of Palestinian areas.
A large number of male and female students of University of Karachi Monday also gathered and held a protest demonstration at arts lobby of the varsity after hearing news of martyrdom of Shaikh Ahmed Yassin.
Israeli gun-ship helicopters in Gaza targeted Shaikh Yassin along with his bodyguards and sons when he was going to offer Fajr prayers, in which he embraced martyrdom.
Enraged KU students chanted slogans against Israel, United States and terrorism by US and its allies.
They also criticised President Pervez Musharraf and chanted slogans against killings of innocent people in Wana area of South Waziristan.
Speaking on the occasion, student leader Syed Amir Ashraf said Shaikh Ahmed Yassin was spiritual leader of Muslims of all over the world, and his assassination is challenge to Islamic world by the Israelis.
Later, students torched US and Israeli flags and dispersed peacefully after the demonstration.
