Minister for Water and Power, Kana and Safron, Aftab Ahmed Khan Sherpao on Tuesday said the government would provide every possible help for the resolution of problems hindering the development of Gomal-Zam dam.
The minister directed the contractor to speed up the work to ensure timely completion of the project.
He was talking to a delegation of the Chinese firm, China National Water Resources Harbin Power Engineering Joint Venture that is constructing the Gomal-Zam dam in Dera Ismail Khan.
The delegation met the minister to apprise him of the progress on the project and bring to his notice the problems hindering the project that was lagging behind the schedule.
The minister said Pakistan needs to conserve and thoughtfully utilise available water and the Gomal-Zam dam is a major project towards achieving that goal.
"We have to save water for development, as Pakistan is an agro-based economy depending upon water," the minister said, adding, Gomal-Zam and other dams are being constructed to save and utilise water in order to boost economy and improve the socio-economic condition of the country.
