The Muttahida Majlis-i-Amal (MMA) Secretary-General and Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam's Amir, Maulana Fazlur Rehman, has urged Islamabad to immediately stop Wana operation and send American troops and agents of the US Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) back to their country.
"The operation is being carried out on the direction of the FBI agents and our army is fighting against its own people," he added.
He said this while talking to his party's Central Information Secretary, Hafiz Riaz Durrani, on telephone on Thursday.
Maulana Fazlur Rehman said the rulers were out to appease their American masters, and accused the government of playing in the hands of the US.
"Those declared terrorists are the same who had earlier been termed as heroes by the US during their struggle against the former Soviet Unions," he said.
The MMA Leader held the government responsible for prevailing instability in the tribal areas, and demanded withdrawal of para-military troops.
He alleged that the government had lost its writ and people had been left to the mercy of circumstances.
Fazl expressed his strong apprehension about Collin Powel's recent suggestion to give Pakistan a non-Nato status, and said: "It will tantamount to surrender our independence, which will be worst than the Cento and Seato pacts of the cold war era.
