Pakistan Leather Garment Manufacturers and Exporters Association (PLGMEA) has arranged exclusive Fashion Shows in Asia Pacific Leather Fair to be held in Hong Kong from March 29 to April 1, 2004.
Fawad Ijaz Khan, Chairman PLGMEA, in a statement issued said that Pakistan has been designated as "Focus Country" at the APLF and will receive further extensive publicity for Pakistani leather garments through the fashion shows.
Due to this status, Pakistan will enjoy exclusive benefits and excellent opportunity to capture more markets, as well as rebuild the country's image among the international buyers, he observed.
He stated that this is for the first time that exclusive Fashion Shows have been organised for Pakistani leather garment exporters on all the three days of the exhibition.
Fawad Ijaz pointed out that APLF is the largest leather and leather products fair in the world, which is held annually in Hong Kong. Pakistan has been regularly participating in this important fair for the last several years.
He declared that it is a privilege for Pakistan to be selected as the "Focus Country", at APLF this year and PLGMEA has planned aggressive marketing campaign to get the maximum benefit from this "Focus Country" status for the country.
The main emphasis will be to project the image of Pakistan as quality-conscious and customer-oriented supplier of leather garments and other related products, he added.
PLGMEA chairman explained that the fashion shows in APLF are part of the campaign to convey the message and to attract prominent buyers to Pakistan. The association has also invited tallest man in Pakistan as a model for displaying our leather garments during the fair to attract prominent visitors and buyers to Pakistan pavilion besides eliciting widespread publicity, he added.
He said other promotional tools would also be used to get the desired response from our buyers for boosting our exports of leather and leather garments.
He further mentioned that PLGMEA has also arranged a "Pakistan Showcase" at APLF where full range of our leather and related products will be displayed.
Fawad Ijaz also appreciated the support extended by Export Promotion Bureau (EPB) and Consulate Office in Hong Kong to make this event possible and effective.
He hoped that this fair would be instrumental in improving our image in international arena and capturing more markets for leather garments.
According to a PLGMEA spokesman, members of the association will display their latest fashion designs during these fashion shows, while prominent buyers from all over the world will be able to witness high quality leather garment selections prepared by local exporters.
A large contingent comprising 75 exporters of leather and leather garment will be participating in the Hong Kong fair.
