Private schools

27 Mar, 2004

It is learnt that private schools are going to enhance their fee structure shortly.
At a time when certain calamities such as high inflation, unemployment and growing poverty are causing mental disturbance, such a decision of private schools will further deteriorate the financial condition of the common man.
It is observed that after every summer vacations, most of the schools announce to revise their educational fee.
Similarly, in the entire year, parents are forced to pay different charges on account of miscellaneous expenses like annual charges, picnic programmes, Eid Milan parties etc.
There are many other complaints against these schools such as high volume of books, congested classrooms, non-qualified teachers, lack of amenities etc.
In the past, the government decided to set up a body to look into the grievances and monitor the activities of the private schools, but no such body is in function and it seems that the decision has not been implemented effectively.
Due to absence of the proposed body, the private schools are continuously engaged in formulating unjustified policies and misusing their role.
The government and all PTAs in the country are requested to control the monopolistic attitude of the private schools and restrain them from increasing the fee structure.
