I am glad to know that the Pakistan Readymade Garments Manufacturers and Exporters Association (PRGMEA) is organising the 6th Export Excellence Award Ceremony 2004 to confer awards on the leading exporters in recognition of their excellent performance during the year 2003.
Our government continues to assign top priority to exports with particular emphasis on value added textile clothing sector exports. I have issued policy guidelines to my Cabinet colleagues to fully prepare our exporters to take full advantage of the post textile quota era, beginning January 2005.
This has been the core principle of the trade policy announced by our government. I assure you that we will continue to provide all out support to the export sector.
Exports are not just an instrument to earn foreign exchange. They are a vital component of poverty alleviation and enhancement of employment opportunities for our people. Your efforts in this sector will help us to achieve our goal of being a progressive country.
The chairman and members of the Managing Committee of PRGMEA deserve congratulations on organising this award ceremony. I also extend my felicitation to the Export Trophy winners on their excellent performance and hope they will continue their efforts or the prosperity of the country.
