Ifac approves reorganisation of Safa

The Board of International Federation of Accountants (Ifac) has accorded its approval for recognising South Asian Federation of Accountants (Safa) as a regional group.
President Ifac Renie Recol stated this while addressing the Assembly of South Asian Federation of Accountants (Safa) held in Jaipur (India). He expressed the hope that Safa will help Ifac in the compliance of International Accounting and Audit Standards in South Asian region, says a press release issued here on Monday.
Earlier, Safa President Badaruddin Fakhri who was presiding over 53rd Safa Assembly said that Safa as a body of eight accounting institutes of the region has been playing a pivotal role in strengthening the accounting profession in South Asia which has more than 160,000 professional accountants and over 250,000 students.
Robin Harding President, Confederation of Asia Pacific Accountants (Capa) President Ifac Renie Recol while addressing the Assembly of Safa assured his support to Safa in its efforts to nature and develop accounting profession in the South Asian Association for Regional Co-operation (Saarc) region.
Safa Assembly was attended by delegates from the accounting bodies of India, Pakistan, Bangladesh, Sri Lanka, Nepal, USA and Malaysia.
