Pakistan Muslim League (N) leader, Pervaiz Malik MNA has said that the government instead of wasting resources on Wana operation and building cultural ties with India, must concentrate on more pressing problems like price hike, unemployment and lawlessness in the country.
Addressing a gathering of his party workers here on Monday, Malik said that Pakistan is facing heavy debt and people were resorting to 'mass suicides' due to hunger and poverty. However, the ruling elite instead of resolving the main issues, confronted by masses is bent upon making Pakistan a front-line state in US war against terrorism, which has got nothing to do with Pakistan.
He opined that the masses are being hoodwinked while the government is trying to divert their attention from serious issues to fun frolic and games. However, the fact of the matter is that more and more people are being pushed under the poverty line and this fact is also supported by the reports of international financial institutions.
Malik pointed out that emergency steps were needed to give economy a kick-start by completely rehabilitating the industrial and commercial units, revamping of agricultural sector, reduction in imports and making export oriented economic policies.
"The government propaganda machinery would not be able to hide the facts for long so it is high time that some concrete measures should be taken to put the economy on the right track," he suggested.
