Portrait of Justice Riaz appears at former CJs gallery

A portrait of Justice Sheikh Riaz Ahmed has appeared among the gallery of the former chief justices of the country in the First Bench of the Supreme Court.
His last working day, according to the roll hanging on the nearby wall has been designated at December 31, 2003.
Beginning with the black and while picture of the first Chief Justice of Pakistan, Sir Abdur Rashid, who presided over a three-member Federal Court, the latest addition to the gallery of the 18th chief justice.
It is the third without the ceremonial wig that had ended with Chief Justice Irshad Hassan Khan.
His three successors, Justice Saeed-uz-Zaman Siddiqui, Justice Bashir Jehangiri, and Justice Sheikh Riaz Ahmed were photographed bare-headed.
The judges of the superior courts discarded the ceremonial wigs nearly a decade ago when Achkan (a closed-collar long coat) was prescribed as the official dress for them.
