LHC directive to law officer in Badr's plea

01 Apr, 2004

The Lahore High Court (LHC) on Wednesday directed the law officer to inform the court as to why the petitioner former federal minister and secretary general PPPP Jehangir Badr was not allowed to go abroad.
The petitioner contended before the court that the British House of Lords invited him but the respondent government was not allowing him to go there.
He contended that the respondent government officials only to please their high ups included his name in the Exit Control List (ECL).
He prayed to the court to direct the respondents to delete his name from ECL and also allowed him to go abroad.
The court, after hearing petitioner's counsel at length, directed the law officer to seek instructions from authorities concerned and inform the court as to why the petitioner was not allowed to go abroad.
