The Bangladeshi taka extended its gains on Thursday as demand for the US dollar fell on lower import-related payments, dealers said.
The taka was quoted at 58.96/58.98 per dollar against 58.97/58.98 per dollar on Wednesday.
"The taka gained ground further after import related demand fell ahead of local Friday weekend," said a dealer with a private bank.
Call money rates were unchanged between 3.25 percent and 6.0 percent in a quiet market.
