AJK cabinet meets amid turmoil

The Azad Jammu and Kashmir cabinet met here on Friday amid turmoil as both factions of the ruling Muslim Conference remained stick to their points.
Prime Minister Sardar Sikandar Hayat Khan, who presided over the cabinet meeting, remained undecided to introduce new faces into the cabinet to make his position stable.
The cabinet meeting passed number of usual resolutions, including appreciation to President of Pakistan General Pervez Musharraf on his February-5 visit to AJK and address to the joint sitting of the Legislative Assembly and Azad Jammu and Kashmir Council.
Earlier, the cabinet meeting was postponed on Thursday on the interference of well-placed quarters in the federal government in an effort to prevent further ignition of the conflicting situation created after four ministers tendered their resignations to the ruling party supreme head given differences with prime minister.
Advisor to the prime minister for Information and Political Affairs Raja Farooq Haider Khan, while briefing newsmen about the cabinet decisions, said that the cabinet has decided to take opposition parties into confidence on the opening of Srinagar-Muzaffarabad Highway.
He said that the government has decided to consult all the opposition parties on the opening of Srinagar-Muzaffarabad road .
He said that the cabinet also approved a package for appointment of doctors at 300 places across AJK.
A committee, comprising Minister Forest Mufti Mansoor, Minister Auqaf Chaudhry Muhammad Aziz and Minister Law Raja Nisar Ahmed Khan, was also constituted in the cabinet meeting for the recovery of co-operative bank's stuck-up loan of Rs 860 million.
The committee will present its report to government in two weeks.
Prime minister urged the bureaucracy to fulfil their responsibilities as per the inspirations of the people of state.
ASSEMBLY MEETS TODAY: The Azad Jammu and Kashmir legislative assembly will meet on today (Saturday).
This session of the Assembly will witness the cracks within the government of Prime Minister Sardar Sikandar Hayat Khan .
The House will debate a resolution on the latest situation in Kashmir besides the question hour.
Speaker Sardar Saib Khalid will preside over the session.
Both Prime Minister Sardar Sikandar Hayat Khan and President of the ruling Muslim Conference Sardar Attique Ahmed were holding meetings with the members of the legislative assembly and the military leadership to gain support.
