The European Union has extended a sum of 40 million dollars towards improvement of primary education in Sindh.
This was stated by provincial Education Minister Irfanullah Khan Marwat here on Friday.
He said that the amount would be utilised for improvement of primary schools in the districts of Hyderabad, Thatta, Sukkur and Khairpur.
The minister further pointed out that 25 percent of the amount would be spent towards the training of teachers.
Meanwhile, talking to a delegation from Hyderabad he said that those primary schoolteachers, who have done BEd., M.Ed. and higher education in other disciplines would be given increments.
He pointed out that senior and qualified teachers would be appointed as supervisors. He further informed the delegation that the seniority list would be prepared twice in a year so that teachers could be promoted swiftly.
He also told the delegation that 399 teachers from Hyderabad have been restored. For the provision of medical facilities to teachers, he said the State Life Insurance is devising a policy.
The minister said that teachers' recruitment would be done on merit basis under a contract system.
