Rs 170 million modern gadgets to be installed in hospitals

Opening the 18th national orthopaedic congress here on Friday, Balochistan Chief Minister Mohammad Yousuf said that Japan had provided Rs 170 million for the installation of most modern medical equipment, apparatus and gadgets for better surgical and medical treatment in the province.
He said that this latest equipment would be initially installed at basic health units, rural health centres and district headquarter hospitals, boosting government efforts for improving and developing health sector services for rural and urban patients.
The chief minister said that more than 60 projects involving development outlay of over Rs 800 million are under implementation in the provincial health sector during current FY 2003-04.
He said that to ensure better healthcare, treatment and cure facilities for indoor and outdoor patients, 1,600 more doctors would soon be appointed in rural and urban areas hospitals, clinics and dispensaries.
The chief minister said that recommendations of the national orthopaedic congress, being attended by leading lady and men doctors from all over the -country, would be implemented by the government within its available resources.
