'Jihadi outfits behind police station attack'

Convener of Muttahida Qaumi Movement Dr Imran Farooq, strongly condemning the armed attack on Gulistan-e-Jauhar police station and the tragic loss of five cops, has termed it an open act of terrorism.
In a release issued here, he alleged that a so-called religious party and its Jihadi outfits are behind this act of terrorism.
According to the release, prior to the attack four or five vehicles arrived at the residence of a member of a so-called religious party in Zehra Nagar where they attended a meting and only a few hours later armed terrorists attacked the police station.
Very recently, the terrorists of this so-called religious party had attacked this police station to get some of their accomplices free, which was reported in all newspapers, the release added.
It may be recalled that an important Al-Qaeda member was arrested from the house of a JI office-bearer, Imran Farooq said.
Imran Farooq said that this so-called religious party and its Jihadi outfits are trying to terrorise the citizens of Karachi in particular and of Sindh in general.
Imran Farooq demanded of President Musharraf, Prime Minister Jamali to order a high-level and independent inquiry and punish the culprits involved.
