Federal Minister for Information Technology and Telecommunication Owais Ahmed Khan Leghari has said that it is yet to be decided whether PTCL would be sold out in the shape of a company or would be privatised in parts.
"However, we are soon introducing the golden hand shake scheme in the PTCL to lessen the burden of employees," he said while talking to newsmen here o Sunday.
He said that way of privatisation would be decided in the next three months, "and we have imposed ban on the fresh recruitment".
However, some important vacancies would be replenished in officer cadre, he added. He said that the Board meeting was being convened to regularise the services of daily wagers. After that golden hand shake scheme would be introduced so that employees could get maximum benefits.
The Minister said that special arrangement were being made to introduce Wireless Local Loop system (WLL) in southern Punjab, and entire revenue record of PTCL was being computerised on province basis.
About new cellular phone companies, the Minister said that a number of new mobile phone companies would be taking part in auction on April 14 to introduce their services in Pakistan.
He was optimistic that service charges of these cellular companies would be less than the currently serving companies and a state of competition would be developed in the country.
He claimed that PTCL had given a relief package of Rs 6 billion to the subscribers during last year.
