Prime Minister Mir Zafarullah Khan Jamali has directed provincial governors, chief ministers and federal ministers to help Wapda in recovering billions of rupees stuck-up arrears and other dues timely.
Chairman Wapda Tariq Hameed told APP here on Sunday that the prime minister has directed federal and provincial governments to assist the Authority for timely payment of arrears, including current bills.
He said during the first phase of the campaign, he met the governors and personally persuaded them for the recovery of arrears.
He said in the next phase, he would call on all the chief ministers during the current month to seek their co-operation in this regard.
The Authority has already launched a nation-wide campaign for the realisation of arrears from the defaulters.
Chairman said Wapda, in principle, has decided to give tough time to the defaulters, especially chronic ones, to recover the arrears from them.
