Pak-China defence officials hold second round of talks

The defence officials of China and Pakistan held second meeting of joint committee on co-operation in defence technology and industry in the Defence Production Division, here on Monday.
The meeting was held in traditional cordial and candid atmosphere, which reviewed the agenda points of the meeting held in Beijing last year.
The meeting deliberated upon the sharing of technology between the two countries in the field of defence production related to conventional weapons systems.
The officials discussed the up-gradation of ongoing projects and expressed its satisfaction over the pace of progress achieved so far including JF-17 thunder, Al-Khalid and Al-Zarrar Tanks projects.
It was emphasised during the meeting that the milestones fixed for the development of these projects must be achieved as per the laid down time scale.
Both the countries agreed to further enhance co-operation in the field of research and development and transfer of technology.
During the meeting, the Pakistani side was led by Secretary Defence Production Division, Air Marshal Zahid Anis (Retd), while the Chinese side was represented by Vice Minister for Commission of Science, Technology and Industry for National Defence, Zhang Weimin.
It may be mentioned here that the joint committee on co-operation in Defence technology and industry was a high level forum of mutual consultation on defence equipment production between the two countries.
It was the second meeting held by the joint committee since its establishment.
