The first meeting of the task force entrusted with the formulation of national policy on development of small and medium enterprises (SME) will be held in Islamabad on April 6.
Federal Secretary Industries and Production, Javed Ashraf Hussain will chair the meeting.
According to Small and Medium Enterprises Development Authority (Smeda) sources the terms of reference of the task force are: consult stakeholders including SMEs and SME organisations in each province to elicit their views; to discuss SME issues prepared by Smeda, draft the SME policy 2005; propose a detailed process and time-bound action and resource plan for consultative preparation; implementation of the SME policy by March 31, 2005 and to finalise the SME policy by June 2005.
The meeting would be attended by president SME Banks, president FPCCI and representatives of the Union of Small & Medium Enterprises (Unisame), Pakistan Small Industries Association, All Pakistan Qaumi Tajir Ittehad, besides participation from ministries of Finance, Commerce, Planning Division, Labour, Deputy Governor State Bank of Pakistan.
