The Sindh Employees' Social Security Institution (Sessi) has paid Rs 6.605 million to secured workers and their dependants as cash benefits during the last quarter.
Commissioner Sessi Nasar Hayat said this during a presentation to Sindh Minister for Labour, Transport, Industries and Commerce Muhammad Adil Siddiqui here on Tuesday.
The collection of social security contribution during the said period was Rs 172.491 million while the number of registered workers was 269,513 from 15,659 establishments.
The Sessi commissioner further informed that during the said period 393,903 patients were treated at social security hospitals and dispensaries.
"Sessi is also working on Expanded Programme of Immunisation under which 16,370 children were immunised against six deadly diseases while 2,760 pregnant women were vaccinated," he said.
The Sessi is also striving hard to cover more and more workers under the scheme and its Vigilance and Survey Cell registered 29 new establishments.
Under the education cess, Rs 8.256 were collected. Besides training institute of Sessi has conducted 4 in-service training course during last three months to improve efficiency of its employees.
These courses were participated by 105 trainees of all cadres. Adil Siddiqui expressed his satisfaction over the progress and urged to maintain the pace of improvement especially on medical side.
