Chairman Wapda Tariq Hamid has said that feasibility study of Basha-Diamir Dam would be ready by June to facilitate government on its decision of mega reservoir projects.
He stated that Wapda was ready to contribute from its savings as its share towards reduction in electricity tariff.
Water and Power Development Authority (Wapda) being the biggest development agency of the country engaged in implementing mega water resource and hydropower projects will live up to the confidence reposed in it by people of Pakistan.
He stated this while chairing the first technical session of 69th Annual Session of Pakistan Engineering Congress and Water Conference here on Tuesday.
Hamid said that largest development activity after the Indus Basin Resettlement Project, under the gigantic Vision 2025 National Water Resource and Hydro-power Development Project had opened new avenues for the engineers of Pakistan, who were second to none in the world, he added.
Talking to journalists on the occasion, Tariq said that Wapda was providing technical data to facilitate the working of parliamentary and technical committees on water.
Pakistan Engineering Congress President Engineer Chaudhry Muhammad Rashid Khan said that it was important that country developed new water reservoirs and produced electricity at economical rates to boost its economic development.
He said rates of electricity had to be reduced to compete in emerging WTO scenario.
Later Khan presented a souvenir to Chairman Wapda.
