Indian cricket captain Sourav Ganguly's doctor has declared him fit to play in the third Test against Pakistan and said the skipper would head back there on Wednesday.
"Sourav is fit and capable of playing," the Test that begins in Rawalpindi on April 13, Dr Kalyan Mukherjee told reporters on Tuesday.
"He is 95 percent fit now and the Indian team physiotherapist would turn that into 100 percent with some fine-tuning," Mukherjee said.
Ganguly returned to his home town, Calcutta, last Thursday after injuring his back while fielding in the fifth limited-over match in Lahore.
Mukherjee diagnosed the injury as a lumbar strain that prevented Ganguly from bending his back.
He missed the first Test and the ongoing second Test in Pakistan, part of the first full tour India has played in its neighbour and rival in 14 years.
Mukherjee said Ganguly would leave for New Delhi on Wednesday en route to Lahore, where the Indian team is presently playing in the second Test.
