Dr Ishrat asks SSGC to acquire modern technology

Governor State Bank of Pakistan, Dr Ishrat Hussain has advised Sui Southern Gas Co to acquire modern technology from overseas and market its skills on competitive projects within Pakistan and abroad.
He stated this during a meeting with the SSGC Managing Director Munnawar Baseer Ahmad and other members of company management at SSGC head office here on Thursday.
Dr Ishrat was given a comprehensive presentation on company's performance and financial projections for the next five years.
Munnawar Baseer informed the SBP governor about salient features of SSGC's Rs 30 billion, 5-year gas development programme and said his company has made a comprehensive strategy to fulfil the future gas requirements in coming years within its franchise areas.
The SSGC IT department's representatives also presented their customer oriented business focus and how their initiatives complimented company's vision to become the most IT enabled company in Pakistan.
Dr Ishrat Hussain was apprised of the difficulties, SSGC was facing with the commercial banks in Sindh and Balochistan regarding bill collection and processing charges and about the banks' non-inclination to agree on a service level based incremental raise in those charges.
SSGC MD briefed the Governor on various initiatives the company had taken with the banks to bring technology based alternate means of bill payment to customers' doorsteps.
SSGC, Munnawar Baseer said, is pursuing a comprehensive strategy to incorporate modern IT systems in its customer relations management, to make the process of bill payment easier for all its customers.
