Federal Minister for Religious Affairs, Zakat and Ushr, Ijazul-Haq said on Thursday that Pakistan would continue to play a positive role since it realises its global obligations.
Ijazul-Haq made these assurances to the US Ambassador, Nancy Powel, who called on him and discussed matters of mutual interest.
During the meeting, the US Ambassador expressed the hope that Pakistan would continue to play its role for eliminating terrorism by creating a conducive environment to discourage extremism.
The Minister said Pakistani society is based on Islamic jurisprudence, which is based on enlightened moderation in consonance with the post-Modernism era.
Ijazul-Haq said that Madaaris are exemplary NGOs where over a million children are being imparted free education, clothing, accommodation and food.
He said service-oriented nature of Deeni Madaaris negate the impression of their any involvement in terrorism, whereas any complaint in this regard would be looked into and strong action will be taken against them not only by the government but also by the management of these Madaaris.
