Balochistan is hopeful of result-oriented NFC Award - 2004, based on reality and practicability, for the satisfaction of all the five stakeholders - the Federation and all the four provinces.
This observation was made by Balochistan Finance Minister Syed Ehsan Shah in Quetta on Thursday.
Talking to media men, he said Balochistan has very well presented its stand-point on the NFC Award now at the final stage of announcement, adding Balochistan's standpoint on the Award is crystal clear, which should be based on backwardness, territory, poverty, development potential, population and tax generating capacity of each province.
Ehsan Shah said Balochistan is appreciative of the Federation's financial obligation, but at the same time, appreciative of all the federating units-Punjab, Sindh, NWFP and Balochistan.
He said the Federation has agreed, in principle, to part with 46 percent share, adding it would be better, if the share is increased to 50 percent because more than 95 percent of the country's population lives in the provinces, and as such provinces need more than enough funds for meeting growing demand for development in almost every sector of economy and segment of the society.
The provincial hoped for the best in future as the Federation and the federating units were closer to an amicable formula on the NFC Award - 2004.
