Punjab University vice-chancellor Arshad Mahmood distributed prizes among the students of the Department of Botany at a co-curricular awards distribution ceremony here on Thursday.
The VC also gave away certificates to 100 participants of annual sports of the department. The sports events included table tennis, badminton, carom, football, musical chairs and 100-, 200- and 700-metre races.
Speaking on the occasion, VC Arshad said that the sports and other co-curricular activities played a major role in character building of an individual.
'PU always encouraged sports events along the academic and research activities.
The university had shown out-standing performance in inter-university sports competitions and won the all round champions trophy and 26 gold medals.
In co-curricular activities, the University bagged all the nine Mader-e-Millat awards, he said.
