Lahore (Eastern Region) collects Rs 12,935 billion revenue

The Eastern Region has collected Rs 12,935 million revenue in nine months of the current financial year, as compared to Rs 11,810 million in the corresponding period last year, registering an increase of 9.5 percent.
The senior official in the Eastern Region told Business Recorder on Monday that out of Rs 12,935 million, Rs 1,743 million has been collected in March 2004, as compared to Rs 1,706 million of the same month last year.
According to break-up of the total revenue figure, Zone-A has collected Rs 832 million, Medium Taxpayer Unit (MTU) Rs 1,450 million, Zone-C, Rs 5,110 million, Companies Zone-I Rs 3,272 million, Companies Zone-II 1,474 million, and Special Zone Rs 796 million, he added.
The official also said the department has also issued more refund during the nine months of the current financial year as compared to the same period last year, adding this year, so far Rs 2,470 million has been refunded to taxpayers as against Rs 1,375 million in the corresponding period last year.
According to a high official in the Eastern Region, the data of taxpayers collected during the national survey is being utilised by the department, which has not only helped raise the number of taxpayers, but also in revenue collection.
About the target for the current financial year, he said the department is well ahead of target, and he was confident that it would easily achieve the assigned target for the current financial year.
