Sindh Local Government Commission on Wednesday decided to release funds to various Union Councils of Karachi.
The decision in this respect was taken at a meeting of the commission held under the chairmanship of Advisor to Chief Minister for Local Government, Waseem Akhtar.
The meeting was attended by Additional Chief Secretary Local Government, Mohammed Saleem Khan, special secretary Local Government department, Ayub Shaikh, additional secretary Ghulam Arif, DG Sindh LG commission Nasir Abbas besides the commission members.
The UCs to be released funds include UC-1O Pahalwan Goth Gulshan Iqbal Town, UC-13 North Karachi Town, UC-11 Akhtar Colony Jamshed Town.
Regarding a dry-cleaning workshop set up on a drain in Saddar area, it was decided that DCO Mir Hussain Ali would submit his suggestions under section 28(3) of SLGO and City District Government was asked to stop the auction of the drain for the time being.
The meeting was informed that the complaint made by Nazim District Sanghar against his DCO would be forwarded to Chief Secretary.
The meeting decided for immediate inquiry report after auditing of TMA Sukkur and District Accounts.
It was further decided that "Bakra Piri" of Chamber would be managed by UC Chambar while from next year, the tax of the Piri will be recovered by TMAs. It also decided to restore the account of UC Chamber-1 Hyderabad.
The meeting decided to freeze the funds of Ghulam Mustafa Soho, Nazim UC Darya Khan Soho, District Thatta.
The commission considered the complaints and ongoing inquiries against Nazims and government officials throughout Sindh and all the inquiry committees were directed to complete the inquiries at the earliest and submit the same at next meeting. It was decided that commission meeting will be held in the second week of every month.
The Advisor directed the commission that all inquiries should be disposed of in a transparent manner.
